Bathroom fitting for Silverknowes bungalows and semis, with easy-access showers if you want one.
0131 357 3869Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
Ideas for a single-storey bathroom with a walk-in shower, a family semi bathroom and a smaller second room.

Silverknowes has more than 2,000 homes, from bungalows to semi-detached houses. Building started in 1936 on the west side of Silverknowes Road, stopped for the war and carried on in 1952 on the east side.
A bungalow has no stairs to carry things up, and the bathroom is usually next to the hall. That keeps the job simple and leaves more of the budget for the room itself.
Plenty of owners in an area like this plan to stay put for the long term. That makes it worth choosing a bathroom that will still suit you in ten or twenty years.
A flush or low-step shower is easy to fit on a single floor, and it will still suit you if you find steps harder later.
In a bungalow the waste often runs under the floor or out through an outside wall. We find the route at the visit and show it on the plan.

The estate began as a mix of private and council housing. Most council houses were bought by their tenants under Right to Buy in the 1980s, so the area is now mainly owner-occupied.
That means many bathrooms here have been in place for decades, or were fitted at different times by different owners. A fresh plan from the walls out gives a more even result.
Grab rails can be added behind the wall panel at the start, even if you do not need them yet.
In a family semi, a shower bath with a screen usually covers everyone. If there is an upstairs and a downstairs room, you can make one a shower room.
A recessed niche, a deep vanity and a tall cupboard keep towels and bottles off the bath edge.
We visit your Silverknowes home, measure up and look at the room and the pipe routes. We show you examples and then send a written quote.

We measure the room and check the walls, floor, pipework and waste route before anything is priced.
We bring examples of suites, tiles and panels, so you can judge them in your own light.
We send a written quote listing the products and the fitting work for your room.
A bungalow or a semi can begin with any of three packages, and the quote is written after we measure.

Often yes. It depends on the floor and where the waste can run, and we check both at the visit.
If you own the house, the bathroom is yours to plan. We measure up, check the room and give you a written quote.
Yes. If it is your only bathroom, think about whether you will miss the bath. We can show a shower bath as a middle option.
Not always. If drains or walls move you may need one from City of Edinburgh Council's building standards team, and we flag it early.
